Adam Kalnick

Fusion is pleased to announce that Adam Kalnick will serve as Percussion Caption Head for the 2008 season. "Adam was an integral part of the inaugural season for Fusion," said Program Coordinator Chris Kilian. "Having Adam in this important role not only provides us with staff continuity but also gives us a very capable and talented individual to help take our percussion program to the next level. I’m really looking forward to working with him."

Adam has been involved in drum and bugle corps since 1990. His first experience was instructing for Spectra Drum and Bugle Corps during which time he realized he wanted more personal marching experience in the activity. From 1992-1995, he marched with the Sunrisers Drum & Bugle Corps where he played tenors and snare. After a long absence, Adam returned to the Sunrisers in 2006 where he served as snare technician.

In 2007 Adam served as the Battery Coordinator for Fusion Core in their inaugural season. In addition to his work with drum corps, Adam has taught and consulted for several New Jersey high school marching band programs and is an adjudicator for USSBA.

Outside of drum corps, Adam teaches high school English and is also currently working towards his M.A. in English. When not in school or teaching drum corps he plays percussion and drums in Wreck Engine, a popular South Jersey rock band. He is extremely excited about continuing his work with Fusion Core and is very excited to be taking on this new role.

Robert "Tex" Lazenbery

With over 20 years of experience in the marching percussion activity as an arranger, instructor and consultant, Robert "Tex" Lazenbery joins the Fusion family as a member of the percussion staff. During his 20 years of experience Tex has taught/performed with many groups most recently as a member and percussion staff for the Sunrisers Drum & Bugle Corps.

Simon MacVicar

Simon is a native of Long Island, New York where he performed snare drum for 4 years with the Huntington High School Marching Band. His drum corps experience includes the Bushwackers (2001, 2002), Lehigh Valley Knights (2004), and Crossmen (2005).

In addition to his drum corps experience Simon has studied percussion with Jim "JP" Petercsak at the Crane School of Music, SUNY Potsdam. As a music education major he graduated Magna Cum Laude earning a performance certificate in 2006. Currently he is teaching Elementary Band in Floral Park, NY and has taught both Huntington High School and Sachem High School marching bands for the past two years. Simon plans on pursuing a Masters degree in Wind Band Conducting in the coming years.
