In The News: Drum & Bugle Corps Goes On National Tour

When resident Jennifer Hurley got a request to fill in for a color guard who had dropped out of the Spartans Drum & Bugle Corps, she immediately took the challenge, even though it was late in the season.

“It was an amazing opportunity and I had to take it, even though I came in the middle of things,” said Hurley, 18, now a freshman at Bridgewater State College.

A color guard spins flags, rifles, sabers and dances. Hurley said she watched the others during practice and soon knew the routines. Her background certainly helped — two years of color guard at East Bridgewater High School, two years as color guard at St. Ann’s in Neponset and two years at Sacred Heart in Roslindale.
