In The News: Legionettes Among Enid Groups To Hold Reunions
In downtown parades you could hear them coming before you could see them. They had a distinctive sound. They were the all-girl, 75- to 100-member Enid Legionettes Drum and Bugle Corps.
Parade watchers would stand and begin cheering even before the group was in sight. I have actually seen mothers and fathers clapping and cheering with tears streaming down their cheeks they were so proud of the organization.
The girls were all teenagers — all Enid High School students. They wore dark blue military-style tunics, dark blue military-style caps and very modest knee-length pleated gold and dark blue skirts.
