In The News: Students Tour Country With Drum Corps

While many teens were spending their summer sleeping in, Stephen Stanger and Kevin Savage were up at 7 a.m. daily.

As part of touring drum corps, the Downers Grove South High School seniors spent their nights on buses, typically arriving at their next destination at about 2 a.m. and getting some precious sleep camped out in school gymnasiums.

“Between the two of us, we’ve probably been in 150 different high school gyms,” Stephen said. “It was a highlight of the day if the school had good showers.
