Austin Stars Unveil 2008 Program

| |

A hot, young star is on the horizon and all eyes are on her! She receives offers for parts in plays, T.V. shows and movies from every corner of the globe. The paparazzi are always on her heels with their cameras flashing in her face. She doesn’t care about fame and fortune, though. All she really wants to do is perform with her friends because music and dance are her reasons for living and she wants to be with other people who love the same things.

The Austin Stars 2008 production, "Stars In The Spotlight: On Stage, Screen and Field" is all about the joy of performance. The thrill of marching, playing, spinning and drumming in a drum corps is what brings people to the Austin Stars. Competition drives us to be the best we can be, but in the end all that matters is that we can perform with our friends, put our heart and soul into our show and entertain our audience.

The program features the music of Irving Berlin, Irene Cara, Barry Mann, Cynthia Weil, Tommy Dorsey and Doc Severinsen. Drum corps fans can expect not only a strong brass and percussion section but also a highly visual program and a color guard that is sure to knock your socks off! The show will take the audience from Broadway to Hollywood and back again, stopping along the way in our beloved Austin, another home to many stars and a blossoming theatre and film industry. The spotlight may be on the performers on the field but don’t be surprised if you find yourself in the spotlight, too!

Musical selections will include:

20th Century Fox Fanfare
There’s No Business Like Show Business
On Broadway
Out Here On My Own
NBC Chimes Festival
