CorpsVets Announce 2008 Program – Simple Gifts
Tree covered mountains and valleys cut deep by streams, crisp morning air, sparkling sunrises, and soothing sunsets; these are the images of Appalachia. Once the western barrier of a young United States the Appalachian Mountains are home to the descendants of Scottish, Irish, German, and English immigrants.
Geographically isolated until the 20th century, the people of Appalachia have preserved the culture of their ancestors- self sufficiency, religious faith, and a tradition of story telling, through music and verse.
