N. Y. Skyliners Membership Day Report

| |

The New York Skyliners thank everyone who attended Membership Day today. The 2008 season is off to a very good start with a positive and productive event. The day was definitely an “Awakening” as the Skyliners welcomed many new and many familiar faces.

After Skyliners field corps Director Harry Eldridge, Sr. welcomed the attendees and played a CD of the full show, it was down to rehearsal time! Chris Bernotas, Brass Composer and James Riley, Brass Caption Head, worked with the horn line. In addition to technique and warm-ups, the horn line started learning Part 1 of “The Awakening,” making good progress through the number. Percussion Caption Head Lance Piantaggini led the battery through the beginning of the percussion technique program. At the end of rehearsal, during “show and tell”, it was clear that the 2008 New York Skyliners are headed in the right direction.

Next, the attendees watched a New York Skyliners Powerpoint presentation developed by Kimberly Woo that included all original corps pictures. The Skyliners finished out the Membership Day with a delicious meal cooked by Ron Lawrence and support staff members.

Thanks to everyone who helped make the N.Y. Skyliners’ Membership Day so successful, and welcome to everyone who came down to spend the day with us. The next New York Skyliners rehearsal will take place on Sunday, October 28th from 11:00 a.m. to 5:00 P.M. at the Dover American Legion Post # 27, Dover, New Jersey. Come on down, be a part of it . . . and bring your friends!
