Cirone Inducted Into PAS Hall Of Fame

Anthony Cirone was recently inducted into the Percussive Arts Society"s Hall of Fame at the 2007 Percussive Arts Society International Convention in Columbus, Ohio. Cirone’s name may not be as well-known as Fred Sanford or Ralph Hardimon, but Cirone has left an undisputed legacy with the Vanguard’s Percussion section. Some have even called him the "Godfather of the Santa Clara Vanguard percussion program".

Cirone graduated from Juilliard with a Master of Science degree in 1965. Soon after graduating, he moved to California with his wife and two kids to join the San Francisco Symphony; he then began teaching percussion at San Jose State University. Throughout his tenure at SJSU, Cirone taught and influenced many legendary SCV percussionists and instructors including Fred Sanford, Bob Kalkofen, Curt Moore, Mike LaPorta, Allan Kristensen and others.
