Cadets Release 2008 Audio Teaser

The Cadets will learn more than three minutes of their 2008 opener this weekend when the corps gathers for auditions and rehearsals in Southern New Jersey.

The Cadets Audition Camp will be held Dec. 7-9 at Penns Grove High School in Carneys Point, N.J. It is the first camp of the season for more than 60 returning members and auditionees who will learn the music for An American Elegy and Nitro, both written by Composer Frank Ticheli. Cadets Brass Arranger Jay Bocook has beautifully arranged the compositions for the corps’ field program.

An American Elegy was composed by Ticheli in memory of those who lost their lives at Columbine High School in 1999 and in honor of those who survived. Nitro was released in 2006 by Ticheli and is highlighted with its musical demand and virtuosity required from the brass section, especially on the move.

Don’t miss your chance to play this amazing music!
Registration for the Cadets Audition Camp remains open until Friday, Dec. 7th when camp begins. Musicians and colorguard members who want to attend and audition should register online at http://www.yea.org/cadets. Walk-up registration is also welcome.

Cadets Director and Program Coordinator George Hopkins will reveal more about the corps’ 2008 field program to members during camp on Saturday, Dec. 8th. Supporters of the corps will also receive a sneak preview on Sunday, Dec. 9th during a Private Reception prior to the 2007 Cadets Banquet being held in Philadelphia, Pa.
