2008 Music City Legend Open House Announcement

| |

Music City Legend Drum and Bugle Corps, Tennessee’s first and largest “all-age” drum and bugle corps, has set Saturday and Sunday, January 26th and 27th for its next rehearsal and Open House. Sign-up for prospective new members will begin Saturday at 9:30 AM (CST) at Heydel Fine Arts Center on the campus of Cumberland University, off of West Spring Street in Lebanon, Tennessee. All persons with prior drum corps, marching band, and colorguard experience are invited to attend.

Rehearsal for returning members will also begin at 9:30. Newcomers may join the rehearsal following registration and orientation. Sunday’s rehearsal will begin at 9:00.

MCL” completed its most successful season ever with an 11th place performance in Open Class at the DCA World Championship, held in Rochester, New York, on Labor Day weekend. The corps achieved its highest score and placement at that event since advancing to field competition in 2005. Representing the greater Nashville area, members of the drum and bugle corps range in age from “mid-teen to middle age” and come from across Tennessee and several nearby states.

The corps has distinguished itself as a “crowd pleaser” by developing an original, family-friendly musical and visual entertainment package each season to compete against similar, often more established, groups from around the country.

While the “all-age” drum corps activity traces it roots to veterans groups and military style music, today’s competitive corps perform many different styles of music from jazz to the works of the great classic and baroque composers. Music City Legend’s 2008 program entitled They’re Playing Our Song, will feature a variety of musical styles from the vocal standard Moon River to the finale of Rock This Town. The corps hopes to field their largest ensemble ever for the 2008 competitive season, which begins in mid-June.

Directions to the Open House, a membership sign-up form, and additional information on Music City Legend can be found online at www.musiccitylegend.org or call 615-941-2420.
