In The News: Band Marches To Top

The four young drummers and their adviser stood in the middle of the gymnasium at the Salvation Army building. The rat-a-tat-tat-tat sounds of their drums bounced off the walls and through the hallways as they practiced one skill after another.

The group is part of Renaissance Indoor Percussion, a York-based drumming group that is the reigning champion of its division in the Tournament Indoor Association (TIA).

Luke Benedict, 15, of Lower Dauphin is one of the band’s newest members. He joined the group this year after hearing about it from his friends, Henry Eichman and James Landau. The threesome drum together during football season for Bishop-McDevitt High School’s marching band.
