Velvet Knights Walter Pyramid Performance

| |

The Velvet Knights Drum & Bugle Corps, along with Full Force Percussion, the organization’s winter program, will have the honor to perform at the Walter Pyramid in Long Beach, for the Cal State Long Beach Men’s and Women’s Basketball Team on Saturday February 2, 2008.

The Velvet Knights Drum & Bugle Corps horn line will be performing a rendition of the Star Spangled Banner, arranged by Thom Willett, brass tech for the corps, at the beginning of the first game. Full Force Percussion will be performing their winter program for BOTH half times at the men’s and women’s basketball games.

Cal State Long Beach 49r’s, men and women, will be facing UC Irvine teams, beginning at 4pm that Saturday.

The Walter Pyramid is one of only three pyramids in the country (others located in Las Vegas and Memphis). The 18-story structure and 5000-seat arena houses both volleyball and basketball teams and the ticket office.

The structure’s distinctive cobalt-blue exterior has permanently altered the city’s skyline. It raises 18 stories above north campus and can be seen for miles in all directions. It has provided a quantum leap in both the image and effectiveness of the Long Beach State athletics programs, with an immediate impact on the 49ers fan base, scholarship fund-raising, recruiting and revenue generation. Nearly 200,000 visitors pass through The Walter Pyramid’s entrances annually.

We are honored to have been asked to perform at such distinctive venue, and for the fine athletics department at Cal State Long Beach.

Come on out and support the teams, as well as watch two great performances by the members of the Velvet Knights Drum & Bugle Corps and Full Force Percussion.
