Mini Corps Associates And Serenade In Brass Announce MCA Invitational

The 2nd Annual MCA Invitational, in association with Serenade in Brass will be held on:

2:30 pm The Amoskeag Sound – Manchester, NH
2:45 pm Ghost Riders – Batavia NY
3:00 pm Mass Brass – South Boston, MA
3:15 pm Golden Eagles – West Sayville, NY
3:30 pm Excelsior Drum and Bugle Corps, in Exhibition

The highest scoring mini corps will appear in exhibition that evening at the Serenade In Brass Concert at the historic Forum in Harrisburg, Pennsylvania.

The top three scoring mini corps will appear in exhibition at the Harrisburg Crowne Plaza at the party following the Serenade In Brass Concert.

A cash bar will be open throughout the show. Tickets are only $8 at the door.

A first-rate panel will judge the show; Frank Dorritie, Dave Martin and Jeff Weir. And the new Mini-Corps Sheets, developed in cooperation with DCA, will see their first use in this event.

To open the show, in exhibition, MCA warmly welcomes their newest member! The inaugural presentation of the Reilly Raiders Brass Ensemble, includes a touch of Broadway with some Irish Flair. Under the directorship of Adrienne Hewes the Ensemble will take the stage with an original score By Chris Killian; "SING DANNY SING". Welcome to MCA, Reilly!

The Thunderbirds continue a long history of mini-corps excellence by kicking off the competition portion of the event. The 6-time DCA World Champion will perform a show which includes “Blue Birdland”, “Theme From Shaft”, “Goldfinger” and will close their show with a Wild West Medley including: “How The West Was Won”, "Hang Em High" and "The Magnificent Seven"

The Amoskeag Sound, just barely one year old, this month, makes their second MCA Invitational appearance. ‘Big’ on excitement and entertainment, the group sees their smaller size as a source of motivation and describes Amoskeag Sound as the corps that keeps the ‘mini’ in mini-corps.

This year’s Ghost Riders musical presentations will take you through “An American Celebration”. With an opener of “Battle Hymn of The Republic”, “William Tell Overture” , “American Elegy” ( The Columbine Tribute) and “Ghost Riders In The Sky”. Donny Allen leads this exciting and always excellent and competitive mini-corps.

Since its founding in 2002, Mass Brass has thrilled and entertained crowds throughout the nation. The 6-time New England, 2006 Mini Corps Associates and 2007 North American Mini Corps Champions, Mass Brass features a classic drum corps sound infused with modern day musicianship and voicing, Mass Brass performs timeless drum corps favorites and entertains fans with on ‘in your face’ style everywhere they perform.

Defending MCA Invitational and 2004 DCA Mini Corp Champs, the Golden Eagles, will be performing an all new and very exciting show which will feature a variety of music, including some Latin, Classical and Jazz. Look for something very different in this year’s show and be prepared to hear a number that will bring goose bumps to even the most seasoned drum corps fan.

Excelsior Drum & Bugle Corps will be exhibiting a portion of their 2008 competitive show, Robin Hood – a Field Production; with selected pieces from the soundtracks of Robin Hood, The Mists of Avalon and A Knights Tale.
