Spirit Brass Caption Head To Present Clinic

Spirit Brass Caption Head, Dr. Ray Vasquez will present a clinic at the upcoming Alabama Bandmasters Association All-State Band Clinic titled, "The Outdoor Activity: A Look at the Drum Corps Activity From a Horn Players Standpoint. An Explanation of Techniques, Methods, and Current Practices".

The clinic will detail the various practices of the drum corps activity through the eyes of a former member and current instructor. A brief history of the instrument development from single valve bugles to the current multi-keyed horns used today will be on display and demonstrated. Dr. Vasquez will also discuss the current practices of a typical drum corps including strength training, breathing exercises, and brass pedagogy through exercises and chorales. Additional topics will include discussion on rehearsal set-up and the brass player’s health as it relates to the success of the ensemble.
