Hertfordshire Showband is delighted to have qualified for the World Showband Championships that will be held in 2009 in conjunction with WMC. Hertfordshire Showband is the first of what they hope will be several UK bands to be awarded a place.

Competition was high at the Qualifier Contest staged last weekend at the Schievelde Stadium in Roeselare, Belgium. The actual contest was won by the brilliant Dutch Drum & Flute band PASVEERKORPS with, with Juliana Drum Corps second, and Jubal in third place. A maximum of five bands could qualify at this event, and to do so the band had to score at least 85 points.

The heats and finals will be staged in as a part of the final weekend of the World Music Contest (WMC), in Kerkrade, Holland, next summer, giving the band a perfect goal for one year on.

Speaking of their Achievement,

Band Master Terry Barnes said “I am absolutely thrilled and proud of this Achievement. Everyone has worked so hard and this milestone will open up yet more exciting experiences for the Band, it’s members and Supporters in the future”.
