In The News: Band Gives Sparkle To Crowd At Stadium

As Scott Kelly stood on the infield grass at Holman Stadium on Friday night, he showcased a sense of pride although it was done with a marching drum and harness instead of a baseball glove and bat.

Kelly was one of 48 members of the Spartans Drum and Bugle Corps performing at the ballpark for the city’s annual Fourth of July celebration, providing a musical foreground for the colorful backdrop created by fireworks.

The night took special importance to Kelly, an 18-year-old snare drummer from Bethel, Conn. Kelly will soon enlist in the Army, and is vocal about his patriotism and the importance of Independence Day.
