In The News: Bowl Hopes To Break Even On 4th

As officials prepare for the annual Americafest July 4 event at the Rose Bowl, manager Darryl Dunn is hoping to make enough to break even on the event.

Although the celebration ends up being attended by about 25,000 to 30,000 people, the expense of the fireworks, marching bands and security quickly eats up the revenue generated at the box office, he said.

"It’s not a great business model, but it is a great tradition," said Dunn, the Rose Bowl’s general manager.
