In The News: Nine Drum Corps To Compete In VB

The fifth annual Battle on the Border comes to Van Buren’s Blakemore Field July 23, and event organizers say the level of competition will be higher than ever before.

Rick Smith, Drum Corps International tour event partner, said DCI decided that Van Buren would get Division I competitors, the highest level, at this year’s event. Previous events have featured lower-level Division 2 and 3 corps, comprised mainly of high school students, while Division 1 drum and bugle corps are comprised primarily of college students.
