In The News: Rock-n-Ribs Wants To Help Put Music Back In Schools

Originally, benefits from the Rock-n-Ribs Festival went to pull the U.S. Open Commission out of debt. But last year, proceeds helped students pay their fees to play in local high school music extra-curriculars, such as marching bands and choirs. This year, that effort continues and another has been added.

The commission wants to put music programs back into elementary schools, starting with Marion City Schools fifth-grade music classes, which have been cut with others because of lack of funding.
