World Gone Mad Announces New Corps Director

| |

World Gone Mad Drum and Bugle Corps (WGM) is pleased to announce the appointment of Joe Kempenich as the corps’ new director. Joe is a seasoned drum corps veteran having performed with the St. Paul Scouts (1975-1978), St. Croix Rivermen (1979-1982), Gulf Coast Sound (2004-2005) and as a charter member of WGM.

"I am very excited and honored to be named director of World Gone Mad.", said Mr. Kempenich. "Between our generous corporate sponsorship and high quality membership we are ready to take WGM to the next level and help build the Texas drum corps scene one fan at a time!"

Joe Kempenich relieves Mike Reynolds, who will be focusing his energies as executive producer and creative whip for the corps.

"Joe is the natural choice to succeed me as director" said Reynolds, "He’s been my sounding board since 2006 and has a real vision for WGM and all the drum corps in Texas. Plus if I see one more piece of corps related paperwork come across my desk I’m going to strangle somebody."

World Gone Mad, founded in 2006, has evolved along a different path than traditional drum corps. The corps is a combination of drum corps, rock band and, as a non-competitive exhibition group, pure entertainment. Because of the limited time commitment required for corps rehearsals, our member-performers are selected based on in-depth interviews, practice discipline, and rock-star attitude. (The swimsuit portion of the induction process has been suspended for 2008.) The corps has developed a reputation as a tight-knit, local concert group that puts shows together quickly without the time, financial and physical demands of marching and touring. With generous corporate sponsorship and support, member-performers are not obligated to pay any dues or tour fees.
