In The News: Carolina Gold Brings Musicians Together

With the hot midday sun beating down on them outside of Edwards Middle School, the members of the Carolina Gold Drum and Bugle Corps feign the motions of drums and horn playing, and keep in step.

Some members look exhausted, but still, they laugh and smile as they move in formation.

"We have anyone from business people to teachers and teens," said Dwayne Barnes, executive director of the Rocky Mount-based drum and bugle corps. "There’s a variety of people from 16 year olds to 50 year olds."
