DCA Unveils New Logo

| |

From DCA President, Gil Silva, in the 2008 DCA Yearbook:

“As we move toward our 45th championship in 2009, I would like to take this opportunity to debut our new logo. Our familiar world globe logo has served us well for over 44 years and as we complete the first decade of the 21st century, we believe the bold, clean new look of our trademark will correctly represent the aggressive growth of DCA as it expands in leaps and bounds from coast to coast.”

The truth is that the new logo has been a work in process for many years. Over the 45 year life of the old globe logo, we have constantly had problems with everything from advertising to t-shirt screeners complaining that the logo is too detailed and unless it’s VERY large is difficult to read and reproduce.

Much effort went into getting the new logo right the first time. After all, we waited 45 years to change it. The original logo was actually designed in 1963. The “experts” from the advertising and public relations field all emphasize keeping it simple, viewable and reproducible. Consequently it has a clean, uncluttered look. As Gil said, we believe this logo will serve us well for another 44 years.
