Key Poulan – Brass Arranger

Key Poulan will return for his second season as the Bushwackers Brass Arranger in 2009. Key is one of the most popular and successful arranger/composers for bands and drum corps in the business today. In addition to the Bushwackers and various other corps, Key is also the brass composer and arranger for the Santa Clara Vanguard. He writes for many marching bands around the world, and has several concert band compositions to his credit. Key brings a great wealth of knowledge and talent to the Bushwackers, and the corps is excited to have him on board for yet another year.

"Having Key back on board is a huge deal for us," said caption head, Chris Kilian. "It doesn’t get a whole lot better than Key. His work, his resume, his music all speaks for itself. We’re lucky to have him on our team!"

Jeff Bittner – Brass Instructor

The Bushwackers are pleased to announce the addition of Jeff Bittner to the 2009 Brass Team. Jeff will serve on the instructional staff with an emphasis on upper brass.

Jeff has been with the Bushwackers for 3 seasons, including as a member of the 2006 World Champion Brass Section. His marching experience includes the Hawthorne Caballeros, the Cadets of Bergen County, and the world champion Syracuse Brigadiers. Jeff received his Bachelor of Music Degree in Music Education from William Paterson University and received a Master’s Degree in Music Performance from Ithaca College. He is a public school music educator in New Jersey and is well sought after as a clinician and consultant for concert and marching bands in the North Jersey area.

Chris Hawkins – Brass Instructor

The Bushwackers are pleased to announce the addition of Chris Hawkins to the 2009 Brass Team. Chris will serve on the instructional staff with an emphasis on low brass.

Chris has been with the Bushwackers for 3 seasons, including as a member of the 2006 World Champion Brass Section. In addition to the Bushwackers, his marching experience includes Magic of Orlando and the Cadets of Bergen County. His teaching credits include Pioneer and many bands in the NJ/PA region. Chris is an exceptional musician and a well sought after clinician, consultant, and trombonist. He received his Bachelor of Music Degree in Music Education from The College of New Jersey and his Master’s Degree in Music Performance from the Jacobs School of Music at the University of Indiana.

"I am excited to have Bittner and Hawkins on board," said Chris Kilian. "Their years of involvement in the activity along with their exceptional education and superior musicianship make this brass team something special. They’re also a lot of fun to be around, so we’re all looking forward to a fun summer building a championship-caliber brass program together with our members."

The Bushwackers are currently accepting members for the 2009 season. We’re coming off a great 08 season that featured an incredible program and a driven drum corps that built up incredible momentum and finished the season strong. The corps is looking to build on that momentum in 09.
