DCUK Celebrates 30 Years In 2009

| |

2009 will see Drum Corps United Kingdom celebrate its 30th consecutive competitive season.

Over the coming weeks DCUK will be announcing details of its plans and initiatives for the 2009 season and the first of these is the return of the original logo which has been modernised very slightly from when first used in 1980 but is still based on the logo still used today by Drum Corps International.

The current logo was introduced in 1996 and has served the organisation well over the past 12 years but with the 30 year milestone the Board of DCUK felt that now was an ideal time to rebrand as we look forward to reliving the past but more importantly celebrating the present and looking to the future of DCUK.

The ideals and reasons behind the formation of DCUK are still as relevant today as they were in 1980, i.e. to provide a platform for Drum Corps to compete against Drum Corps and to provide a spectacle of marching excellence for our audience. As this extract taken from the 1980 DCUK Finals Programme explains, "Its function is to promote true Drum Corps and to bring together Drum Corps enthusiasts throughout the world". Next year, as we crown our 30th British Drum Corps Champion we hope to stay true to these ideals and, with your help, make our 30th anniversary a year to remember!
