Green Lancers To Return To DCUK In 2009

| |

Plans are well underway that will see The Green Lancers from Warrington, Cheshire return to Drum Corps United Kingdom in 2009; it’s 30th Anniversary Year.

So why, after all these years, have they chosen now? “2008 is the 25th Anniversary of the Green Lancers championship winning year” explains Gary Wells, the brain-child behind the project, “I have had this project in mind for a long time and the anniversary has given me the extra push to see it through this time.”

The first stage of the project will be a reunion evening on Friday, November 14th 2008 at The Penketh Tavern (formerly Royal British Legion) which will feature a performance by the newly formed Green Lancers brass ensemble. A percussion ensemble will begin rehearsals in early 2009 followed by a colour guard project soon after.

The short term goal of the project is to unveil the alumni corps at Warrington Walking Day, a day that over the years has been a huge opportunity for bands to showcase their efforts to the local community. Following this the corps will be looking for opportunities to perform at drum corps events throughout the UK in 2009.

Gary further explains, “Although the immediate focus of the corps will be on the alumni members, we hope to use this project as a catalyst to secure a long-term project for the youth of Warrington and offer them the same opportunities as we had within the drum corps activity”

Anyone who wishes to learn more about the project or offer assistance or much needed instrumentation should contact Gary Wells on 07979 540 697 or email at gwells [at] exel-uk [dot] com. Tickets for the reunion evening, priced at £5, are also available from Gary.

Drum Corps United Kingdom wish Gary and his team the very best of luck and offer their full support to ensure this project is given every opportunity to succeed.
