Summer break for college students is usually a time of relaxation, travel and work. However, some students spend their summer marching under the sun with a 28-inch drum attached to their chest.

Tom Graham, a junior at Keene State College, kept busy this summer as a member of Drum Corps International. The drum corps spans over the entire year, beginning in November with weekend-long camps each month. The program progressively gets more intensive as summer gets closer, adding more weekends in February. In May, some weeknight practices are added and in June it’s every weekend and some weeknights. Eventually, it becomes their entire life for the summer.
