2009 Cadets December Camp Report

It was like embracing an old friend. For the Cadets, wrapping their arms around a significant portion of the opener was a beautiful thing as the beloved music of Leonard Bernstein brought warmth and even tears to the eyes of some during the corps’ rehearsal camp last weekend.

The gorgeous melody of Maria and the powerful sounds of Rumble, both from West Side Story, along with pieces of On the Waterfront, filled the air as the Cadets worked on the prelude and opener for their 2009 field program “Lenny.” Nearly three minutes of music for the show was taught during the corps second camp held at Woodstown High School in Woodstown, N.J. The Cadets also learned two parade tunes – Strike Up the Band and Patriotic Medley – to be performed during the 56th Presidential Inaugural Parade on Jan. 20th.
