2009 Sun Devils Program Announcement And Open House Report

| |

This adventurous work will take you into the year 2552, where Earth is in turmoil and epic battles between good and evil threaten human existence.

Mankind will face its greatest challenge yet! Join the Sun Devils on our Great Journey as we present to you our 2009 show, “X.”

The Sun Devils are pleased to report that our second ever Open House was a great success.

After a brief opening announcement and introduction of the staff, the corps headed out for an introduction to the Sun Devils visual program. Visual staff member Alan Mundy was pleased with the work put in. “It was a real pleasure to see so many new faces come in with a high level of training. When combined with our returning veterans, there’s a lot of potential for some really exciting things in the visual program in year two of this organization.”

Immediately after visual block, the corps enjoyed a lunch provided by Sun Devils super volunteer Nancy Mingle before breaking into sectionals. While the brass headed outside to begin working on elements of the technique program, the battery and front ensemble convened under new percussion caption head Ron Lambert. Open house attendee Paul Devlin said, “Ron Lambert was impressive as well. I admire his philosophy for music, and he also proved to me that he wants to make a great drum line. I believe if everybody listens to him, adopts his technique, and does their homework, it will be great. I also had fun with the guys.”

Following sectionals, the corps reconvened for a brief show and tell segment, where each section displayed what they had learned that afternoon for the rest of the corps. Especially impressive was the brief routine performed by the guard to Fall Out Boy’s “Beat It”.

If you missed the open house, make sure you join us at our first camp of the season, January 3rd and 4th at North Port High School in North Port, Florida. The corps will be working through the first half of our 2009 program “X”. Come be a part of something special! 51 was the count and we expect 25-35% more at the next camp when we move to our new rehearsal site. No positions are set and it is our intent to march everyone that is capable and is willing to be a team player. Our brass line will be using Bb horns this year.
