2009 Academy Program Information

On Saturday, December 13th, program coordinator Glen Crosby and visual designers Brandy DuBose and Richard Hinshaw presented the concept and musical inspirations that will comprise the 2009 field show for The Academy Drum and Bugle Corps. The metaphor of ascending to the mountaintop is frequently used to describe the struggles of everyday life. There are countless quotes of standing on the summit, struggling on the steepest climb, the view from the top of the mountain, and on and on…

“The Ascent” will be featuring the “Call of the Mountain” by Joseph Curiale, “An Alpine Symphony”, Op. 64 by Richard Strauss, and “Kingfisher’s Catch Fire” by John Mackey to explore this metaphor of man and his struggle to reach the summit.
