BYBA Council 2009 Report

| |

Shortly after the Annual General Meeting, Mark Nicholson advised Council that he would like to take sometime away from his executive duties due to changes in his personal circumstances, in particular the demands of his day job. This was reluctantly accepted, though I’m pleased to advise that David Cousland has been appointed as Association Vice-Chair. Elaine Thurtle has also been appointed to Council as Association Secretary with effect from Monday 26th January, 2009 up to the next AGM, when the situation can be reviewed, in line with our Constitution. Mark has offered his services to the 2009 BYBA Judging Panel, so we hope he won’t be too far away, and may support the Association in other ways in the coming years. Mark is obviously thanked for services to Council.

Elaine is currently the Secretary for Revolution Show Corps, and has a long history (with her husband Terry) on the staff of Queensbury Scouts. She has managed Band Reception at our National Championships for around 5 years, was BYBA Northern Region Secretary at the time that I was Chair. In the past, Elaine has also worked with the Northern Region on Individuals & Ensembles, and one end of season Concert.

I hope you will join with me in welcoming Elaine to Council.

During the last weekend of January, Council held a very productive Strategy Workshop on the Saturday, where were joined by the Association President, and two representatives from Northern & Midlands Regions. Council and the Association President also held a business meeting on the Sunday, where the induction of new trustees and roles & responsibilities were covered, these will be ongoing topics of discussion.

Further details will be circulated as appropriate to the BYBA Membership.

In the meantime, on behalf of Council, I hope that you have all had a great start to 2009, and I look forward to meeting up with at future events.

Regards

Paul Cartwright
