In The News: To Washington They’ll Go
At least four young men from the Jacksonville area will help make history when they toot their horns in the 56th Presidential Inaugural Parade Jan. 20.
The quartet – Thomas Baker (euphonium), Randy Salinas (mellophone), Robert Solomon (tuba) and Daniel Valdelamar (trumpet) – are members of the Cadets Drum and Bugle Corps, an award-winning group of about 150 brass and percussion musicians and color guard members younger than 22 from across the nation. The corps is a program of Youth Education in the Arts based in Allentown, Pa., and is kicking off its 75th anniversary year with its first participation in a presidential inauguration.
