SoCal Dream Announces 2009 Brass Caption Head
SoCal Dream Drum and Bugle Corps is excited to announce major additions to the staff for 2009.
Woody Kane joins SoCal Dream for the 2009 season and will assume the role of Brass Caption Head . Woody has been a fan, participant and professional of Marching Bands and Drum Corps for a nearly all his life. Growing up in the South Bay of Los Angeles, Woody performed with the Torrance Area Youth Band, then with the Sacramento Freelancers and the VK. In 1984, he performed and served as the band manager for the 1984 United States Olympic Band for their performances during the Games of the XXIII Olympiad.
His Olympic experience led to participation in other National and International events including: The Centennial Celebration of the Statue of Liberty, “We the People” US Constitution Celebration, Super Bowl Halftime Shows, US Olympic Festival Ceremonies and the World Cup Opening and Closing Ceremonies. Woody has also served on the staff of the USC Trojan Marching Band as a teaching assistant and Assistant Director for Dr. Arthur C. Bartner.
As a performer, Woody has worked as a freelance musician throughout Southern California. He was a member of the Disneyland College Band in 1988 and the programs assistant director in 1989. While working for Disneyland Talent Booking, Woody was instrumental in the creation of the Disneyland Magic Kingdom Korps in 1991 and later performed with the group that same year after a 6 month position as a performer and music director of the Royal Dutch Marching Band at Huis Ten Bosch in Nagasaki, Japan.
As a musician and performer, Woody gained a unique insight into the production elements of entertainment and is now pursuing opportunities with entertainment and live event production.
We’re looking forward to an exciting and musically compelling program, and with the visual staff that is now in place, expect nothing but the best from SoCal Dream for the 2009 season. SoCal Dream will once again make the trip to Rochester NY for the DCA Championships. We will see you on the field!
