Earn College Credit With Spirit Of Newark

An innovative and unique opportunity is being developed with Rutgers to enable any college student and even high school students (tenth grade and higher with good grades) to get college credits for marching with Spirit. This is a real Summer Elective Course that will offer not just the experience of a national-touring, competitive drum and bugle corps, but the chance to mentor and build bridges for disconnected young people through individual and group participation, while simultaneously growing and enhancing drum corps and life skills for everyone. Furthermore, college credits are also expected to be given for internships in administration, food and health services. You will get a grade for this course! Some experience is helpful, but if you are willing to work hard, you can make it. Employment opportunities will also be available through the Spirit of Newark and the YES Center.
