Pacemakers Return To DCUK

| |

After many years away The Pacemakers will return to DCUK in their 30th anniversary year. As the only founder corps who competed at the first ever DCUK final, they are pleased to be able to help celebrate this historic milestone.

Executive Director, Ray Westbrook said: “It amazing that 30 years have passed and we are the only Drum Corps that has survived the whole life span of the DCUK organisation. I can still recall us competing in one of the very first DCUK events at Maidstone Football Club, little did I imaging we would all still be here 30 years later.”

One of the ex Corps Directors, Andrew Shaw comments: “I remember attending one of the first meetings of DCUK members at the Beechmen’s Headquarters in West Bromwich. I can also recall us beating The Green Lancers in prelims that first season, quite a feat for us in those days with our Bb bugles!”

The Pacemakers are very excited about the prospect of competing again in DCUK, particularly some of the younger members whose own parents competed in the original 1980’s Corps. We have been searching through some of our archives and photographs to see what old memorabilia can be found in the hope of displaying some of the more interesting items during the season.

To celebrate DCUK’s 30th Anniversary, the Pacemakers will be performing at Eastleigh and DCUK’s Championship Finals in September 2009.
