Aguilar Wins 2009 Bayha Scholarship
Second-year member of the contra section, Roger Aguilar, was recently selected to win the Bayha Scholarship. This $500 scholarship was funded by Spencer Bayha, a member of Pacific Crest from 1996 – 2000, and one of the corps’ early drum majors. He currently serves with the California Highway Patrol, and wanted to find a way to assist college-aged members seeking careers in the areas of public service.
Rogger Aguilar joind Pacific Crest for the 2008 season. He is currently a student at Mt. San Antonio College and plans to attend the Police Academy after the 2009 season. "Even with music being such a grand part of my life, I found myself preparing for a career in law enforcement," he wrote in his application. Indeed, Roger has already logged 1,000 hours of community service as a Police Cadet in the city of Irwindale, where he continues to serve today.
