In The News: Timothy Richardson’s Summer To Be Filled With Music

East Gaston High School musician Timothy Richardson has been selected to be part of the Boston Crusaders Bugle and Drum Corps.

"I’m very proud to have been selected," said Richardson said. "Young people come from all over the world – the United States, Canada, Japan, Holland – to march with the Crusaders."

Richardson has been part of his school’s marching band for four years. The bugle he plays is called a "contra." The word , according to Webster’s dictionary, means the tone is pitched below bass, a "contra-octave," the musical octave that begins on the third C below middle C.
