The winter guard season is almost over and the Atlanta CorpsVets are getting excited about being in the sun and putting on drill but there is something that we are even more excited about. THE GUARD IS BACK! And along with them, new staff.

The Atlanta CorpsVets is excited to announce the addition of Victor Mooney as Guard Designer to their already well respected staff. Mr. Mooney joins new guard caption head Chris Key to complete the 2009 guard staff.

Mr. Key is currently the guard director for Fayette County High School, and is a six-year member of the corps, where he served as guard captain for the 2007 and 2008 seasons. Mr. Key has served as an instructor for Starrs Mill High School and Jonesboro High School.

Mr. Mooney is a long standing and active member of the color guard community. He is a marching band and winter guard adjudicator in South Carolina, North Carolina, Tennessee, Georgia, Virginia, and Texas, and has been affiliated with Marching Auxiliaries of Dallas, TX since 1985.

Mr. Mooney is the guard director for Blue Ridge High School, South Carolina State marching band champions six of the last seven years. He served as guard designer for Infiniti Winter Guard for twelve seasons including the 2000 WGI A Class World Champions, guard designer for The Cast Winter Guard for four seasons including the 2007 WGI A Class Silver Medalist finish, and as an instructor for the nationally televised 1997-2001 Citrus Bowl and 2002-2005 Capital One Bowl halftime shows. Additionally Victor is the guard designer for T.L. Hanna High School in Anderson, SC, Boiling Springs High School in Spartanburg, SC, and Theodore Roosevelt High School in Los Angeles, CA.

“I really enjoyed marching with CorpsVets in 2007 and am looking forward to being a part of the staff!” shares Victor, who currently resides in upstate South Carolina.

Assistant Executive Director Bradley Hood says “we are very excited about both Victor and Chris coming on board as staff. Their creativity and experience will be a big plus as the corps looks to move up the ranks at DCA Championships in Rochester, New York.”
