Rochester Crusaders Colorguard Auditions

With the Winterguard season completed, the Rochester Crusaders Drum & Bugle Corps is pleased to announce its first full Colorguard audition/camp of the 2009 season. The camp will start Saturday, April 18th at noon and will end at 6:00pm. We will reconvene on Sunday from 9am-1pm. The audition/camp will be held at the East Rochester High School. This will be a full camp. Percussion and brass will be rehearsing as well. The address of the school is: 200 Woodbine Avenue, East Rochester, NY Due to limited spots, those who are interested in marching with the Rochester Crusaders Colorguard for the 2009 season are encouraged to attend this camp. This year’s colorguard staff includes:

The Crusaders welcome Jessica Czachowski – Jessica will serve as the colorguard caption head for the Corps. From Liverpool, NY, Jessica is a graduate student at Syracuse University studying for her masters in Arts Education. She attended undergraduate school at SUNY Oswego and has a Bachelors of Arts in Studio Art and an Athletic Coaching minor. Jessica has been dancing for 17 years. She danced at the Dance Centre North in Mattydale and now teaches dance at Celebrations Dance Center Inc. in North Syracuse.

Her marching experience includes 6 years with the Liverpool High School Marching Band, in the colorguard and 2 years with the winterguard. In addition, Jessica has marched the summers of ’02-’04 with the Syracuse Brigadiers Drum & Bugle Corps. Her junior corps experience is quite impressive with the summers of ’06 & ’07 as a member of the Carolina Crown Drum and Bugle Corps where she aged out in 2007.

In addition, she marched the winters of ’04 & ’05 with 3rd Legende Winterguard of Montreal Quebec. She has worked the past 5 years with the Oswego High School Marching Band colorguard. Jessica has designed the colorguard work at Oswego for the past 3 years along with the Oswego Visual Ensemble. She will be working this coming fall with Jordan Elbridge Marching Band, designing the colorguard work.

The Crusaders welcome back Sarah Cole – Sarah serves as a writer and joins the Crusaders for her sixth year. From Trumansburg, began her Colorguard career in 1989 and continued marching for Trumansburg scholastic world colorguard until she graduated in 1997. Sarah continued marching for Patriots Drum and Bugle Corps from 1998-2000 and the Patriots World Guard in 1999 & 2000. During these years Sarah Cole also attended and instructed dance classes at Amber Perkins School of the Arts located in Norwich, New York. She attended class at Garth Fagan, RAPA, and Park Ave Dance Company in Rochester, NY where she now resides. In 2004, Sarah graduated from SUNY Brockport with a Bachelors of science with a focus on dance.

Sarah has taught such groups as Homer winter colorguard, Trumansburg winter colorguard, Eastridge winter color guard and Marching Band (2005-Current). Currently she is involved with the Gates Chili winterguard (2005 Scholastic A World Champion) since 2003 and is the current director of the Patriots Independent Open Winterguard who reentered the WGI world in independent A class in 2006. With two very successful rebuilding years, patriots made WGI finals in 2008. The Patriots currently have a Dance Ensemble directed by Sarah Cole that she established in 2007. Sarah Cole is a returning staff member of the DCI Finalist, Boston Crusaders.

Joining Jessica and Sarah is Amy Ockenden. Amy will serve as a technician.
