Calling all Americanos Alumni,Toros alumni and friends!

The Americanos Inc. and the Americanos Alumni Association are planning a picnic reunion and Parade corps to be held on June 13, 2009 in conjunction with the Appleton Wisconsin Flag Day parade.

The Americanos started in 1936 and last fielded a competitive corps in 2004. The Alumni Committee is in search of all past marching members, staff and support personnel to join us in a night of fun to reconnect with old friends and to share special memories.

The Americanos Alumni Association Board has formed a website, americanosalumni.org, and a Facebook group called “Americanos Alumni Association” both of which have already brought some former members together. However, we are still seeking many additional individuals who were associated with the Americanos organization.

Alumni Corps
In conjunction with the reunion the Americanos Alumni Association is organizing an alumni corps which will be participating in the Appleton Flag Day parade in the afternoon preceding the reunion. Appleton’s parade is recognized as the nation’s oldest Flag Day parade and is one of the largest. So far over forty alumni have committed to participate in this event. Former Americanos brass arranger and World Drum Corps Hall of Fame member Ken Norman is arranging two of the corps’ classic songs for the parade. Cherry Pink and Apple Blossom White was performed by the corps during the 1974 and 1975 seasons and Hot, Hot, Hot was performed by the 1989 corps.

If you’re interested in performing with the alumni in this parade you can still participate. Please register at the alumni website, americanosalumni.org. Brass music, percussion music and mp3s of the parade songs are available from the website as well as rehearsal information. Rehearsals have been planned for May 16th starting at 5pm, May 25th starting at 3 pm in addition to June 11th and June 12th rehearsals. The Rehearsals will be held at the Americanos Centre 1615 Drum Corps Drive in Menasha Wisconsin. Anyone is invited to attend.

Please join us as the Americanos take to the streets of Appleton once again.
