Drum Corps Family Reunion – Texas And Tennessee Events

| |

Mid-South Youth Performing Arts presents the first annual ‘Drum Corps Family Reunion’ series of events.

The Drum Corps Family is large and diverse. We come from all sorts of backgrounds and locales, but we work together to create something incredibly rewarding. Whether you marched in the 1960s or 2000s, there are common bonds and experiences that we all share. The Drum Corps Family Reunion Project is a way to bring drum corps alumnus together in a local area. Whether you marched the local corps, or traveled to distant places to experience drum corps, the Drum Corps Family Reunion is your place to meet others from your area, reconnect with long lost friends, and check in what the local corps are doing!

For the 2009 Year we are starting with two events, one in Grand Prairie, TX (Dallas-Fort Worth location) and one in Memphis, TN.

June 27th will be a ‘Day at the Lake’ in Grand Prairie, TX with typical family reunion styled events and BBQ, plus some special guests, The World’s Most Accurate Drummer Contest, a Vendor Fair (T-shirts, Bus Companies, Percussion and Brass equipment, and much more), and wrap it all up with a standstill concert from some local performing arts groups. Group Rates and individual tickets are available

July 8th; 6-9pm will be a special Drum Corps Watching Party and Mixer in beautiful and historic downtown Memphis, TN. Stay tuned to the webpage for details and line-up. The Memphis reunion admission is a suggested donation of $10-20 or industrial size cans of food!

Both events will feature videos and memorabilia from current and historic corps across the country, highlighting how the local area has supported drum corps over the years.
