Renee Penton-Jones was tall as a teenager — very tall.

"Mr. Jones loved tall girls, especially for flag lines, so the corps could use us as a gauge for straight lines and circles," she recalled. "It was scary for me that first year (in A corps). He put me in a key position right away because I was tall. There is video of us at a (Denver) Broncos game, and one lone flag girl steps off two counts early. That was me," she said with a giggle.
