After a very extensive evaluation of all the brass manufacturers in the United State and Europe Nathaniel Lewis, Director of City Sound announced today that the new brass program of City Sound will utilize only Kanstul Brass in the entire brass choir. With the cooperation of Kanstul Instruments City Sound will be the only new organization to ever complete such an extensive project.

Mr. Lewis announced that Richard Oliverio, City Sound Staff and Brass Director had decided that the young musicians from the Los Angeles and Southern California area deserved only the best if City Sound was to truly develop consummate professional musicians. The tremendous background of brass expertise of Zig Kanstul and the ultimate brass instruments he has continued to create for the last four decades has culminated in a brass product unmatched anywhere in the world.

“Our musicians will know what it feels like to play on the very best and that is in line with what we are striving to accomplish with our brass program” stated “Rocco” Oliverio, as he is known worldwide in the professional performing arena. “I have promised to help Nathaniel, one of my alumni, to develop the best musical program in the Southern California basin.” “To that end we will strive to give our young musicians a background in musicianship that will enable them to continue their musical education in high School and College of their choice at the highest level. More importantly, once they learn the discipline and dedication it takes to be great at our offering they can apply this same concept to anything they choose to accomplish.”

As Nathaniel Lewis, City Sound Director stated, we want to expose our young members to greatness and anything less than that is not acceptable.” ” That is why I asked “Rocco” to come to City Sound and help me accomplish my dream. “ “To create greatness you have to have the greatest of staff and with Rocco here we will have that. “His seven national Championships and unbelievable brass lines were no accident. “Even today, almost 35 years later, this is the standard that many still use to define greatness.”

City Sound, will preview the new brass program at the July 12th DCI Show, “Drums Along the Pacific”, where they will open the program with the Star Spangled Banner. City Sound’s program is open to any young people seriously interested in developing their musical skills.
