In The News: 2009 DCI Schedule Announced

The 2009 Drum Corps International World Championship Drum & Bugle Corps Open Class Quarterfinals schedule has been announced by the Michigan City Summer Festival Committee and DCI. The World Championships are scheduled for Michigan City and Indianapolis through 2018. This year’s events in Michigan City are scheduled for Monday and Tuesday, Aug. 3 and 4, at Ames Field. Twenty corps from the United States and Canada are entered in this year’s competition.

The official opening ceremonies are at 6:30 p.m. Monday, Aug. 3, at the Ames Field Fountain. Mayor Charles Oberlie and DCI Executive Director Dan Acheson will speak. The Legends from Kalamazoo, Mich., and Velvet Knights from Pasadena, Calif., will perform. The Michigan City High School JROTC Honor Guard will present the "Parade of Flags." Admission is free.
