In The News: Athleticism, Music Collide In Marching Competition

Hear that noise in the distance? That ruckus rumbling toward West Des Moines?

That’s the sound of seven marching bands thundering toward a showdown Thursday at Valley High School Stadium. The annual Drum Corps International competition includes the Phantom Regiment, the defending world champions from Rockford, Ill.; last year’s eighth-ranked Blue Stars from La Crosse, Wis.; the 12th-ranked Madison Scouts, also from Wisconsin; and the Cold Cadets from Dubuque.
