In The News: Feeding The Troopers

If she preps dinner before lunch, sometimes — only sometimes — she can squeeze in a little time for herself before dinner. If and when that occurs, she rewraps sprained ankles, gives medical advice to a quivering-lipped young woman, sews practice flags, works on the books, or figures out her grocery list.

Traute (pronounced Trout-ee) Gilbert is just referred to as Mom — by her husband of 47 years, Ted; her own five kids; this year’s 130 Troopers and 20-some staff members; and by those who find themselves in her "kitchen" on wheels.
