In The News: Weak Economy Hitting Madison Drum Corps Fundraising

Add the Madison Scouts Drum and Bugle Corps to the list of organizations suffering amid the bad economy. The non-profit group reports its corporate fundraising has dropped off considerably.

"We’ve had companies that used to make big donations cut way back on what they could give," said longtime corps backer Robin Goldberg of Monona, owner of Dream Lanes and two Pizza Pit restaurants locally.

Founded in 1938, the Madison Scouts Drum and Bugle Corps has an annual budget of nearly $800,000 funded entirely with members fees, donations and live performances.
