2009 Sun Devils Freedom Festival Parade Report

The Sun Devils’ first public performance went over very well. The Sun Devils / North Port High School Alliance Drum and Bugle Corps garnered the North Port Freedom Festival Independence Award – Best in Show. Sun Devils Program Coordinator and Alliance director, Mark Cole, stood before 42 anxious horns for warm up. Nearby locals watched and listened with astonishment at the warm sounds produced by both corps. This was the first ever-combined performance by both groups. The 1.5-mile parade had rain and unheard of heat within minutes of each other proving that South Florida weather can be quite volatile. But the locals were out in full force enjoying their red white and blue beads. And the kids enjoyed the pounds of candy being thrown.
