DCI Valdosta and Orlando are now fond memories of first show weekends. DCI Orlando was especially memorable due to the ever changing weather. Before the corps took the first step in Orlando, Drum Major John Johnson received a stern warning from DCI Contest Coordinator Tony DiCarlo regarding the performance. Johnson was told point blank that if he came out to stop the show…STOP THE SHOW. There was a substantial amount of lightning near the stadium, but the show went on. The corps just finished the hit in Movement III when DiCarlo gave the signal to stop the show. JJ put his arms up and said, "GO TO THE TUNNELS!" He then saluted the crowd and said, "We have to go!" With that, the very receptive Orlando crowd rose to their feet in adoration for their home town corps.
