New Uniforms For ‘Forte’ 2010

| |

For 2010, the corps will be appearing in custom designed uniforms created by Brent Becker of Stanbury. The corps will maintain Purple as their signature color, but will be utilizing it in a much different way.

Silver/Gray was selected as the base color of the uniform to allow the corps to be cooler in the sun (since their new home is Texas) as well as provide a palette that will separate the corps visually from other uniforms. Part of what will make this suit so unique (in world or open class…) is the absence of black, or it’s use as a simple defining trim and not a dominant color. A second shade of purple has been added to accentuate the ‘F’ incorporated on the front with Mylar reflective pieces on top in Silver. The Purple pieces will be reflective and can be removed and changed out as the show dictates.

The Corps debuted the uniform design to members during the Everyday rehearsals and it went over extremely well. Chase Street, a first year member from Grand Prairie, TX said ‘I will definitely have to march next year, that is simply the coolest uniform I’ve seen’. Many alumni and rookies alike shared their enthusiasm for the new look.

Chris Green, Corps Director states, ‘We wanted a brand new look. The corps had used the same uniforms the entire existence of the corps. It was important for the new look to build upon the previous one, and yet provide us with an image to build towards our goal of World Class Status. I believe Brent has given us a unique vision that our fans and alumni will embrace and love. The feedback we have received so far as been wildly positive, especially from our members, which are the most important factors.”

Since the corps will be appearing in new uniforms for 2010, they have decided to allow our current members, alumni, friends and fans to purchase the current ones as a keepsake. Uniforms are available by a donation of $75 or more with the accompanying form available on the webpage, or by email (director [at] memphisdrumcorps [dot] org). Specific Uniforms may be reserved on a first come basis. Alumni Association Members also have a special deal available to them (email for details). Any uniforms not reserved by August 31 will be turned into framed pictures, pillows, and other decorative memorabilia. Uniforms will be available following the DCI World Championships week and may be picked up or shipped.
