In The News: Flu Fears Hamper Drum Corps Practice

Concerns about the H1N1 virus grounded some members of a California-based drum corps staying at Ball State for this weekend’s Drum Corps International World Championships at Lucas Oil Stadium. Now the team says 14 members taken to the hospital as a precaution are fine and ready to perform while health officials are investigating further.

They’re the nation’s most awarded drum corps team. The top-seeded Concord Blue Devils are in Indiana competing in this weekend’s Drum Corps International World Championships. But when several members of the California-based team became ill while practicing at Ball State University, concerns arose among health officials that some of the 150 members may have become infected with the H1N1 virus, also known as swine flu.
